TEAM students will participate in various service learning projects in our community and be given credit in their biology classes. These hours may also be used towards Paly's community service hours. The following requirements are part of this assignment:

• All students need to do 6 hours of community service before the end of the school year. A final write-up will be handed in the last week of school. For 2 of these hours, students should participate in an off-campus ecological service activity with either Save the Bay or Grassroots Ecology (formerly Acterra Stewardship) (see info below).

• Students should update the community service log with a record of hours and give a brief description for each activity. They should hold on to their log to turn it in at the end of the year. Up to 3 extra hours each semester can be turned in for extra credit as well, 5pt per hour for a maximum of 5 hours.

Hours towards the community service requirement may be filled by participating in the following activities:

•helping with TEAM fundraisers like Stanford Parking or the Carwash

• Save the Bay work days (see http://www.savesfbay.org/peninsula-south-bay for a schedule of dates and to register online)

• ACTERRA restoration work at Arastradero preserve (see http://www.acterra.org/programs/stewardship/pearson_arastradero.html for a schedule of dates and to register online)

• Other service activities as approved by your teacher.

We participate in the annual Paly Service Day each year--look for details on that in the spring.
